B Media is a featured artist at this year’s 2013 Open Engagement Conference, an initiative of Portland State University’s Art and Social Practice MFA concentration. Open Engagement is an international conference that sets out to explore various perspectives on art and social practice and expand the dialogue around socially engaged art making. The conference is a site where an inter-generational exchange can occur between emerging artists and established artists. It is also a site where trans-disciplinary conversation is possible. This year, the conference is bringing together artists and scholars to reflect on publics, contexts, and institutions in relation to the current state of socially engaged art, education, and institutional practice. B Media’s workshop will be from 3-4:30 pm on Saturday, May 17, and is clustered around the “Media in Context” theme. The full conference schedule can be found here.
