PCC Course

B Media is teaching an all-encompassing grassroots video course at PCC starting July 7th. We are specifically encouraging social justice organizations to participate, because we think your work would benefit from having a member participate in the 6-week training.

The course will cover the nuts and bolts of becoming a community media maker: participants will be versed in media literacy, develop basic interview and camera skills, and the ability to edit. By the end of the course, each participant will complete a 3-5 minutes video about the work of their organization: it could highlight a current campaign, explain your organization’s mission, or explore a pertinent issue central to your organizing.  Our explicit goal is to empower participants with technological skills and practically apply them. All ages and technology levels are encouraged to participate; no camera is necessary

There are 8 spots available in the class, and the cost is $125, payable to Portland Community College.  We are asking your organization to share this information with your members, and we encourage you to sponsor or co-sponsor a member’s participation.  Media literacy is fundamental to all of our organizing, and B Media is dedicated to enabling all of us  to tell our stories.
