As an organization that is engaged in solidarity work both locally and internationally, we have been working to bring up 5 Venezuelan media and community activists to participate and hold workshops at the 2010 US Social Forum.
This is extremely important for a number of reasons. Firstly, it allows a further cross pollination of ideas between players in the ‘North’ and ‘South’. It strengthens ties between international communities, allowing us to understand complex international situations from a grassroots perspective and respond accordingly to aggressive military posturing by the US government against the People of Venezuela. Finally as People in the US face the worst economic debacle in their life time, it is important to look to how others have dealt with economic defaults and repressive governments through organizing Person to Person.
